Al
Rose makes his long-awaited debut with Information Overload. He has been
writing songs and performing for more than 20 years. He is best-known in the Midwest
for leading his large band, The Transcendos. His fascinating lyrics are
brought to life by his distinctive voice and quirky musical style. Al
plays acoustic and electric guitar, flute, harmonica and alto sax on this recording.
The Transcendos are joined by keyboardist Fred Simon and baritone saxist Barry
Winograd. His music has been described by the Windy City Times as "...
a jazzy explosion of musical inventiveness," but Al is fond of the appellation
"caffeinated madness." Thirteen originals are complemented by a version of Stephen
Stills' "For What It's Worth" (the 1967 Buffalo Springfield hit) and the
country standard "Long Black Veil" (a 1959 charter for Lefty Frizzell).
Al Rose presents his songs live in settings from solo acoustic to his full rockin'
band and assorted-sized ensembles in between. He tours nationally as a solo and
plays selected dates with any number of The Transcendos. |
