Al Rose
Pigeon's Throat (Waterdog)
Chicago singer/songwriter Al Rose has mastered the art of spinning eccentric
musical yarns. Perhaps that's why he branched out a bit on Pigeon's Throat,
his third and most mature release. Sure, he remains an acoustic beatnik, but
he has unearthed some pretty heady emotions, too, growing sensitive and sentimental
on some tracks. As clever as Rose is at wordplay, it's a shame he didn't include
a title track this time out.
