This marks the debut
of Chicago area singer/songwriter Dean Goldstein. Bad
Examples' leader Ralph Covert produced it, with Shoes' Jeff
Murphy working the board. Covert co-wrote several of the songs and
appears on several tracks. Most of the cuts feature Bad Examples'
members Tom O'Brien (guitar), Pickles Piekarski (bass), Steve Wozny
(organ) and John Richardson (drums), who also plays the kit for
Shoes. Other musicians include The Insiders' John Rice on mandolin,
guitar and ukelele.
Dean is from the
classic school of pop songwriting with bright hooks and a variety
of feels. He's in his early 20's, but has been performing since
his early teens. Lyrically he's straight-forward but he looks beyond
the surface of romantic relationships for deeper meanings in life.
This is 3-minute-and-under material that sticks with you.
Bad Examples fans: you'll love this record, if you don't already
have it in your collection! Dean will be creating his own audience
through performances with his band, Coin, throughout the Midwest
in the years to come.
