Acclaimed children's songwriter Joel Frankel has temporarily grown
up.
An instructor
at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, he has self-released
two phenomenal children's cassettes, his songs have been used in
movies (Big) and television shows (The Heights, Catwalk),
and was a co-founder of the rock band Down Boy Down. Frankel's debut
CD on Waterdog Records features truly original songs from a unique
voice.
If Peter Pans
Out showcases Frankel's serious, mature and passionate songs.
Fans of intelligent, personal songwriting such as that of Jules
Shear or David Baerwald will find this collection of work very satisfying,
and highly contagious.
The album was
produced by Ralph
Covert, leader of the Bad
Examples, and a longtime admirer of Joel's work. Musicians from
some of Chicago's best rock bands came together to play on this
album, including Big Shoulders, Insiders, Remainders, Champaign,
Charming Beggars, John Prine's Famous Potatoes, The Bad Examples,
Down Boy Down and Brother Brother.
