About the cover -- Five from the left, in the white
dress is my grandmother, Alberta Roach, along with members of a theater group
she was in as a teenager. My grandfather played in the orchestra. The photo was
probably taken in the early 1920s, yet these young faces could be of people I
know today. My grandparents' pursuit of their art at a young age inspires me.
