Hi Folks. Yesterday was
March 17, 2001, St. Paricks Day. MtbB came one step closer to the culmination
of a dream, recoding the final tracks for a new, yet untitled record.
It's difficult sometimes
to get a good grip on what drives us to do the things that we do in
our lives, but yet we know what they are becuase we do them, right?
Just the fact that you are reading this now means a lot to us. It's
nice to think that all the hard work means something.
Much thanks to Raxx Traxx
Studios and its owner Rick Barnes for being patient and professional
all the way through. You Rock. As for Steve and Ralph, you two are as
potent and magical as two guys that get together can be. (in a good
way) I'm talking Jagger/Richards, Lennon/McCartney, Kid Rock/ Joe C.,
kinda stuff. Thanks for being patient, Ralph.
MtbB has several upcoming
shows (check the tour schedule on this site) and more on the horizon.
We'll let you know when and where the CD release show will be as I myself
find out. (There are a dozen or so booking managers fighting over us
as I speak... "yeah right.")
Please remmber that we need
your help and support to succeed. Keep your ears open about Hindersole
as well, they crank.

Hi. Pete here. How's everyone
been doing? Sorry it's been a while since i've written one of these.
Well the time has come for the Made to be Broken boys to record an album
of these songs that we've been playing for a while.
Producer extraordinaire
Ralph
Covert (heard of him?) has agreed to produce. I have to say that
I feel very fortunate to get the opportunity to work with Ralph again.
I feel that this record will be quite the depature from "May
the Better Man Lose." Fuzz, Ed and I have been working our butts
off and hopefully we'll be at the right place, at the right time and
capture lightning in a bottle. We've coaxed axe-master Steve
Gerlach to throw down some soulful rockin' leads throughout.
This is truly going to be
a group effort by MtbB. We've written all these songs together, and
we're all going to sing! We're also going to be introducing you guys
to some very talented friends of ours. Folk-singer Erica Waycie is doing
a piano/guitar duet with me, and leader of the band Hinder-Soul, Leo
Shvarster, is helping out with background vocals.
We'll be back soon with
another update and new gigs in November. Hope you had a safe Halloween.
Rock on. Keep Pimpin'
Sincerely, Peter

After what
I considered a successful first outing of a Coin/mtbb
showcase a couple of weeks ago, I am looking forward to playing with
that band again. Dean and the boys kicked ass during their set, which
highlighted new material for an album they have coming out soon. Also
making a strong showing: opening act 200proof, fronted by Leo Shvarster.
I think we did o.k. too.
So what's up
guys and guyettes out there? After the last show the band decided to
take a week off to catch up on real life. I (Pete) stayed close to home
trying to finish up a tune for the new record. It has been coming along
pretty good, I think it might be called "Did I Disappoint You Again",
or maybe not.
Meanwhile,
Gregg used his time off to produce a demo for a young band called Parkedlife,
a pop/punk band who sing their tunes in both English and Philipino.
Pretty cool stuff, I heard it. Ed used his time to finish up a home
project he's been working on, and to finally put new strings on that
bass of his! Just kidding Ed, please don't beat the crap out of me!
There are a
few new gigs on the horizon but I can't tell you about them just yet,
But confirmations will be coming soon. (06-23-00,06-24-00,07-01-00)
Keep those dates. It was kind of a quiet night at the open mic night
Tuesday. All you performers out there aren't getting any younger if
you know what I mean. That's referring to the open mic night that Gregg
runs (and I help), each and every Tuesday night at Lunar Brewing in
Villa Park. (St.Charles Rd./Elmhurst Rd.(83)).
Look for a
Made to be Broken highlight video coming soon, and also a dance remix
of "St.
Agnes" done by local Dj Kim Nunez. Both are going to be available
through the website.
Other than
that, not much happening, my sister Agnes, is pregnant with her first
child, congrats! Keep the faith, see you down the road,
Sincerely,
Peter c/o Made to be Broken. 10:33pm

Hey guys, this
will be the section of the web-site where on probably a monthly basis.
Ed or Gregg or I will update and or amuse you with what is going on
with the band, because, well, we think you should know.
We'll let you
know about the new record and where we might be playing, or maybe even
tell a joke we heard on a particular day. We'd love to hear what's happening
from you guys as well. As time goes by we'll iron out most of the rambles
and see what happens!
"Never
underestimate the power of music or try to deny it. The power to uplift,
to heal: the power to change the shape of a room or the course of peoples
lives. If you think I'm dreaming, do me a favor and let a fool sleep.
See you soon." (J.D.)
Sincerely,
Peter Bernas and Made to be Broken
