A bit about Tommy Shaw:

Baby-faced, blond-haired Tommy Shaw has always had varying interests outside of STYX. For example, he's performed the National Anthem at a Cubs vs. Giants game at Wrigley Field in Chicago, and is also a founding member of Damn Yankees, a mega supergroup with long time pals, Jack Blades (formerly of Night Ranger) and the Wackmaster himself, Ted Nugent. But his solo albums, Girls With Guns, and What If, mark his first serious musical enterprise outside of the band.

Tommy Shaw hails from Montgomery, Alabama and joined Styx for their Crystal Ball album, which started a string of multi-platinum successes. He established himself as one of the three major songwriters and vocalists in the group alongside Dennis DeYoung and James "JY" Young and intertwined his own lead guitar style with JY's. He released two successful solo albums on A&M before joining forces in the early 90's with Ted Nugent and Night Ranger's Jack Blades to form powerhouse Damn Yankees.

1994 saw Shaw & Blades' song "My Hallucination" getting nationwide airplay supported by a national tour. In 1995 the most popular Styx line-up reunited to record a new version of their 1975 hit, "Lady" which appears on STYX Greatest Hits Vol.1. This same line-up played over 50 shed and festival dates in the summer of 1996 to coincide with the release of the Greatest Hits' second volume.
