, experienced the change of telephone area code (which was always and forever 312) to the confusing 773. Of course, releasing a compilation album was the only solution. Most of these bands lived and played in 773, and some such as Spelunkers, made frequent visits.
Showcase Music Magazine raved that 773! is "overflowing with some of the most creative, talented, and innovative bands ever to grace the Chicago music scene....it proves that Chicago, like Seattle or the Bay Area, can also be the birth grounds for trendsetting music that can turn the industry head over heels."
