Torben Floor - Live Music From The Apartment CD

Torben Floor's Carey Ott, first made his mark in music with this gorgeous album.

He's since gone on to have an acclaimed release under his own name on DualTone Records which includes songs heard on Grey's Anatomy and other television shows and films.

Torben Floor was a young band in 1997 that hailed from rural Ottawa, Illinois, with their musical influences of John Lennon, Jeff Buckley and Radiohead readily apparent. "Live Music In The Apartment" (WM-9902) marked its compact disc debut and should served as an introduction to the voice and songwriting of Carey Ott, who formed the band with bassist/brother Chris Ott and drummer Doug Sale, now both of the Quicksand Brothers. Several of the songs from this album remain in Carey's concert repertoire. Visit his website for current information.

Torben Floor developed its sound through live performance and recording sessions with Steve Albini, Jimmy Johnson (Cheap Trick) and Mark Rubel (Hum). While "Apartment" was indeed largely recorded in the boys' former apartment, two tracks created at Mark Rubel's Pogo Studios (Champaign) conclude the disc. Post-production and mastering were handled by Chris Greene of Alien Soundscapes (Chicago). An alternate version of the final track, "Disillusion," and "Sunk Inside..." were included on a promotional ASCAP compilation at the end of 1998. The quartet played at important festivals and conferences including Milwaukee's Summerfest, CMJ, St. Louis' MRMF, Mobfest (Chicago) and a private showcase in Austin during SXSW.
