The
youngest member of The James Young Group was playing Styx's "Lady"
on a self-modified guitar just as he hit his teens. About this
same time, this self-taught musician added keyboards to his arsenal
of instruments. Singing, writing, and playing is foremost but
a fascination with altering equipment to search for great unique
sounds has always been part of Lou DePasqua's art. He was the
front man for local Chicago band Image, and later recorded with
Red Light Records' Vicious Groove and the Jim Peterik-produced
Pride of Lions.
His
keyboard ability and tech know-how led to an offer to work on
Styx's '91 tour. He gladly accepted the chance to work with a
favorite and personally influential outfit. Lou continued to write
and record, sometimes with Michael Baran.
Joining
the James Young Group allows him to utilize all his musical talents
as a player (guitars and keyboards), lead singer ("Heaven in Your
Heart" and "Heart's Not the Same"), writer, arranger, keyboard
programmer, and inventor. There's a new guitar amp that he developed
for this band. As JY uses his one-of-a-kind "Yoshinerator" to
realize his signature sound, Lou has his own personal style, sound
and technology. (the D-Pasquinator, anyone?), to bring to the
group.
