If Peter Pans Out
|

CD $5 |
| Acclaimed
children's songwriter Joel Frankel has temporarily grown up.
An instructor at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, he
has self-released two phenomenal children's cassettes, his songs
have been used in movies (Big) and television shows (The
Heights, Catwalk), and was a co-founder of the rock band Down
Boy Down. Frankel's debut CD on Waterdog Records features truly
original songs from a unique voice.
If Peter Pans Out showcases Frankel's serious, mature and
passionate songs. Fans of intelligent, personal songwriting such
as that of Jules Shear or David Baerwald will find this collection
of work very satisfying, and highly contagious.
The album was produced by Ralph Covert, leader of the Bad Examples,
and a longtime admirer of Joel's work. Musicians from some of Chicago's
best rock bands came together to play on this album, including Big
Shoulders, Insiders, Remainders, Champaign, Charming Beggars, John
Prine's Famous Potatoes, The Bad Examples, Down Boy Down and Brother
Brother. |

Don't Sit On A
Cactus
|

CD $14.99 |
|
This
is Joel Frankel's award-winning debut children's music album from
1994. Joel appeals to toddlers through the Kindgarten group with
his simple fun melodic songs. The collection features the cute title
cut, his punkish hit "I'd Be A Bee," and a reprise of
his own "We Go Together" which was used in the movie "Big".
Irish folk singer Kathy Cowan guests on the lullaby, "Go To
Sleep With The Moon." The CD's booklet contains lyrics to all
the songs.
The Chicago Tribune wrote, "Joel's songs are for kids who like
to wiggle and giggle," and Booklist wrote, "this recording
is a hoot!" Joel is a longtime friend and once-upon-a-time
collaborator of Ralph Covert's who also teaches at Chicago's Old
Town School of Folk Music and has earned numerous awards for his
children's music in the past fifteen years.

I Can't Sit Still
|

CD $14.99 |
|
This
is Joel Frankel's second kids' music album with all the lyrics to
all 14 songs included in the CD booklet. Irish folk singer Kathy
Cowan guests on two songs. Joel's whimsical and sometimes silly
tunes are loved by toddlers through the Kindgarten crowd.
Billboard Magazine 's Child's Play column praised I Can't Sit Still
upon its initial release in 1995 as " ...one of the most delightful,
original cassettes we have come across in recent times. "
Publisher's
Weekly opined, "...a winning combination of intelligent, plain
lyrics and engaging music. In addition to guitar and keyboards,
cat purrs, kazoo, spoons and fiddles augment the music. The quirkiness
and simplicity of Frankel's songs make this an ideal listening experience.

Ship Of Chocolate Chips CD
|

CD $14.99 |
|
Veteran
children's performer Joel Frankel fourth award-winning disc is co-produced
by his bandmate Eddie Ganet and features a guest appearance by Delmark
Records blues guitarist Dave Specter. This disc was given a Parents
Choice Award and Parenting.Com dubbed it a Parent's Pick for ages
3-5.
Impossible to resist. The recording explodes with fanciful songs,
delightfully arranged and produced music and enough variety to keep
kids (and adults) dancing and singing along. I knew this was a remarkable
CD the first time I heard it—not just because I loved it,
but because my family did.
