They're
a band of like-minded musicians who love and make great records.
Their
live performances are powerful funfests of guitar cornucopia,
sweet and screaming vocals, original pop mayhem oldies from the
vaults that are delivered passionately and devastatingly. They've
opened for bands like The Flaming Lips, Shoes, Love, Redd Kross,
Matt Wilson, Blake Babies, Uncle Tupelo and Chainsaw Kittens.
Their tours have ranged from Minneapolis to New York City.Hits
Magazine, in reviewing the new Epic Soundtracks album, praised
Lava Sutra's Anthony Illarde for his pounding on the platter,
and for his legendary fashionable attire.
"We're
into good songs," states drummer Anthony Illarde. "The way they
make us feel is important. It doesn't matter if it's Louis Prima
or Glen Campbell or Led Zeppelin. We take what we like. With such
diverse options, why limit yourself to rock'n'roll from 1989 to
1994?" "Rock
is rock," protests Timothy Fowler. "Kiki Dee had the music in
her and so did Black Flag. Both were trying to get their specific
message across, but it's all the same - it's just a rock show.
And we're the same as Kiki Dee and Black Flag, only a little bit
louder."
Currently
drummer Anthony Illarde (ex-Rights of the Accused), guitarist
Tim Fowler and singer/guitarist Jason Walker jam together with
former MysteryGirl/Rosehips singer Kevin Junior in The
Chamber Strings.
