Ralph Covert has co-authored several plays with G. Riley Mills.
Their full-length epic, "Sawdust & Spangles," won them
the 1997 Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Work. A historical
drama revolving around the life of American circus pioneer W.C. Coup,
the play was a compelling vision of the exhilarating and oftentimes
dangerous and harsh life in a traveling circus in the late 1800's.
Their second joint effort, "Streeterville",
was a historical drama based on the life and times of an almost mythical
Chicago character, "Cap" Streeter. Produced by the TimeLine
Theatre company, it also won a Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New
Work.
Most recently, the team of Covert and Mills wrote the story for
"The Flower Thieves," a "rock 'n' roll circus fable"
presented by The Midnight Circus. Ralph also composed the music for
the play, and performed with a live seven-piece band for its premiere
this past May. There are plans to re-mount the production in Spring
of 2002, with a full studio album of the music to be released in 2002.

Midnight Circus' website for pictures from the premiere of "The
