The recording of our
second CD took much longer than any of us anticipated or desired,
but life threw some challenges at us including the births of babies,
the unfortunate loss of a beloved and supportive family member,
a big phat (as in way cool) Greek wedding and a couple of unexpected
career detours (all good). These events did succeed in delaying
us but never deterred or stopped us. Better late than never is the
saying.
We had a great time
in the studio while recording Praying for a Rendezvous. We’re
studio dogs. We love the process of recording and brainstorming
in the studio as much as playing the music live. It was a great
pleasure to create with such inventive guitar players like Tommy
O’Brien, Steve Gerlach and Jim Workman. We never imagined that Corky
Siegel would play on a CD of ours, so to say that was an honor would
actually be an understatement. Steve Wozny provided his staple good
taste once again and brought the subtle underlying beauty that his
playing brings to songs. And Scott Hall, with his arrangements of
cello and violin on “Another Day” and “Henry," proved once
again to be our own personal John Williams.
The cover art on our
debut “Ever Since Ever” was provided
by the talented Tony Fitzpatrick. We don’t take the cover art of
our CDs lightly. After all, it’s the first thing you see before
you even hear a note of the music. So this time the task was as
daunting as ever to come up with something interesting to follow
up Tony’s excellent work. Luckily, by chance, we met up with another
imaginative artist at a local art show by the name of Scott Westgard.
Over a Guinness (or two) at Durty Nellie’s he helped bring to form
the idea we were trying to get across. His concept combined with
the savvy contemporary mind of skillful graphic artist Jo Mills
brought the images and the music together in a way we couldn’t have
by ourselves. We are lucky to have crossed paths with all these
wonderful artists and now friends.
Check in with us! Say
hello if you get a chance. We look forward to seeing you all again.
